How this door type seals

Purpose-built steam doors run 3/8 inch glass minimum (1/2 inch on ceiling-bearing panels), keep normal 1/8–3/16 inch operating gaps, and close them with a full perimeter of polycarbonate-carried gaskets plus embedded magnets on the strike. Above the door, an operable transom vents the cabin after a session so seals and grout dry out — a sloped or hinged transom that drains condensation back inside is the mark of a properly detailed enclosure.   • Skipping the transom: a cabin that never vents grows the mold the gaskets were protecting against.

Why does steam escape over the top of my shower door?

The top edge or transom gasket has failed — the bottom sweep is irrelevant to a top leak. Steam doors seal all four edges; inspect the header gasket line and the transom seal first.

Do steam shower doors use special seals?
